My courses are cancelled Thursday and Friday and then will be all online for the rest of the semester. I also work in the library on campus and have been told not to come in tomorrow and don’t know what will happen after that. Things are still developing today but this will mean big changes for my everyday life at a time when I’ve already been feeling extremely isolated. I’m deeply concerned about my mental health and the increased isolation and time with my father and stepmother. I’m also concerned about my financial future. I have some money saved but don’t know about the future. I know this is a milder concern when compared to getting the virus especially as someone who has asthma and is being tested for two diseases that would make me immune compromised but this really sucks

Holy wow.
That assumes a huge amount of kids having tech that will allow that. And assumes a huge amount of pandemic.
Wow.

Yeah and a quick move we just found out about two cases in the state last night. Its UM Ann Arbor and Flint too. I was in the discord server and some there don’t have internet at home. Many don’t have computers.

My university made that decision this afternoon as well

I wonder what LTU will do next week when after spring break...But hey! If you’re not Carona’d up and not too far, you’re more than welcome to hang out with me and I’m sure a few other Metro Detroit Oppos wouldn’t mind either.

I go to Pitt and we just found out today that all of our classes are moving online starting March 23rd, we are getting the next week off. We’ re also being told to move off campus, but awaiting the dates to do so. It’s all so surreal, really don’t know what to feel yet.

Okay cool! I’m trying to make friends. I’d love to try Motorsport photography or if people cars. Also it’s good to see you online, I’ve been thinking of doing a where is KRoll post.

Yeah, UC campuses are rolling to that as well. the next 8 weeks are going to get real. Really real.

Yeah I prefer in person but also don’t want to get sick. Same with work but am not sure what to feel at this point either other than anxious.

For sure! I’ve got quite a few friend’s that do automotive photography. I’ve definitely reduced my posting in recent time, and I’ve noticed it myself. I really only post now if it relates to the 924 or something I’ve learned.
I stay away from the politi cal posts. I’m there to read and learn, because I’m not privy to sharing my thoughts and opinions, only to have a gun aimed at me from either side of the table. Maybe that’ll change one day but the political world has bled into everything we live and breathe and I’ve seen it bring the worst out in people every damn day and it’s sickening that people simply cannot be decent people and discuss issues like civilized human beings. Maybe that’s just the modern political climate/environment, it sucks any way you swing it.
I’ve also just been running a busier schedule with classes, more hobbies, and such. I might share some of my hobbies here from time to time from now on.

So that’s where they were? The news only said “ Metro Detroit” this morning. Would’ve been nice if they’d specified; however, if that information wasn’t available then I can understand.

At my university they're keeping the campus open so you can use the library, I'd assume most will do that.

My sisters college is also moving online. My middle school is giving us 6 days off and is also considering online classes.

The cases are one in Wayne and one in Oakland not specifically the campuses

This is so extra. They’re so paranoid that they’re canceling class in person FOR AN ENTIRE SEMESTER. A week or so makes sense, but until early May, when there’s a good chance this will be going away? BS.
Since I’m pretty isolated, I’m hoping that I don’t have classes canceled. I have good relationships with my family and I go home a lot, but I couldn’t deal with being at home for the rest of my “school time.”
Ironically, I live in the same county as the Air Force base those cruise ship passengers came to. So where would most of us go home to? That’s right, northern Fulton and Cobb.

For us it’s half the semester but still it’s a long time. I’m genuinely worried for my sanity and mental health. At least I can still see my therapist for now.

How many students? UT-Austin, where my wife works, is trying to work out a post spring break plan. But they’re dealing with 50,000 students.

My wife works for UT-Austin. It looks now like students will stay home but faculty and staff will still have to come in. So the university itself won’t close.

You’ve got this, man. I know school serves as an escape for some people, making these scenarios unfortunate. I was shocked people were mad about school being canceled, but transitioning to an online format would be worse. Most of my daily interactions and people I know are through classes; I barely have anyone down here that I hang with outside of class. Like you, my simple part-time employment is tied to my school, too. Without that, I’d be jobless.
I only have two months left, but staying back home (to prevent further boredom) would be frustrating.

I got to UW-Milwaukee and we just switched to online classes until at least April 10th, which it seems like almost all UW schools are doing . Crazy you guys are online until the end of the semester. At least it seems like most schools around the country are reacting similarly, so we’re all in it together at this point.
Still so odd, and a lot of my classes seem like they’ll be really hard to adapt to online. Especially my project based ones. I guess we’re all long for the ride at this point.
They’re not officially closing campus for us, so hopefully yours doesn’t close fully either so you’d be able to get out of the house and still be able to make some money too!

About 10,000 at UM Dearborn

Thanks! I commute from home but have issues with my dad and stepmom and how they treat me and don’t support me or what I’m doing. I’ll lose most of my interaction with others this way which will be tough.

Yeah we'll see how things go. I think my classes will be difficult to adapt to online too. This semester ends in April but I was planning on taking summer classes but who knows at this point.

all the reported cases are a week too late. 5 days contagious, but not symptomatic + 2 days for lab testing. It is much more prevalent than reported.

It’ll be especially hard to adapt classes halfway through the semester! Or over halfway in your case.
This is all still not fully registering to me. Such an odd situation, but better than spreading the virus!
If the isolation or anything is getting to you, don’t be afraid to reach out! We’re all in this together!

I get that. My classes at my college are online after spring break, for sure the week after but potentially indefinitely. If you need someone to talk to, feel free to reach out to me. My email is dtg11 at yahoo dot com. Isolation is tough, I’ve been there. We’re here for you and even if it just means going for walks and being more active on oppo, joining the discord, etc. do what you need to. Mental health is incredibly important.

OSU employee here (sorry, THE osu). We’re moving to online instruction until March 30th at the earliest, to be evaluated later. I’m IT for the college of engineering, so our job just got more difficult. Teach old professors how to record lectures is painful, to say the least.
Keep your chin up!
